Little Footsteps Childcare

Childminding service in Welwyn Garden City, Herts

Activities

Little Footsteps is a small childminding setting, so I am able to accommodate families preferences and follow family routines as closely as possible.

Activities are carefully planned around the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) framework.  I balance time carefully between outtings and time for the children to play and interact in our home and garden, as well as time for naps/quiet time as needed.  Outtings include library story sessions, playgrounds near our home, Willows farm, walks and children’s centre groups.

We have plenty of toys and learning resources such as music and instruments, art & craft supplies, story books, puzzles etc. Toys are stored at a low level, accessible to children.  I make homemade play dough and coloured rice for the children to enjoy, we do artwork with painting and sticking, lots of stories and singing and will have a garden for the children to play and to water plants and tend them.

Messy play is encouraged, aprons are kept at the ready for this, but children should always bring a spare change of clothes please, as well as weather appropriate clothing (jumpers, wellies, sun cream if needed).  Plenty of feedback is given to parents and carers at the end of every day.  Learning Journals are kept to record new discoveries and skills and to support each child’s development, these contain photos and observations and become quite special mementoes of time at Little Footsteps.
